Singing for Pleasure
sings for the
BBC Children in Need appeal.
The bright, June sun streamed in through the roof ligths of the busy Howard Centre shopping complex, regarded by many as the very heart of Welwyn Garden City. Singing for Pleasure sang a number of sets, through the middle of the day, from mid morning until mid afternoon, catching the bulk of the summer shoppers.
There was hardly enough room, in the space alocated, to accommodate the whole choir,
but somehow we squeezed in.
The lively accoustics and high ambient noise presented a challanging environment for our sound engineer Mark, who had to set up a complicated system to incorporate clear public address with good foldback .....

... but, when he wasn't making vital adjustments, Mark was singing as an important member of the bass section. So who says men can't multitask!
Cliff, our musical director, conducted all day.
But there were some breaks which enabled choir members to take refreshment and share a joke or two.
Our determined team of collectors helped to make this a most successful event, and one which we will be pleased to repeat very soon.
